As we can see The World's End follows five childhood friends, reunited by Gary King (Pegg), to take on an infamous pub crawl back in their home town, Newton Haven. Only now the comforts of home, in addition to their pub crawl, are thwarted by some apocalyptic alien beings.
It's fair to say the trailer does not disappoint - the much loved comedy style evident in the trilogy's predecessors has returned. Tongue and cheek portrayal of British pub culture? Check. Memorable one liners? Check. Simon Pegg once again trying to jump a fence? Check. An excellent cast has been assembled, in addition to a few cameo appearances that have at one point or another played a part within Wright, Pegg and Frost's ouvre. Inspiration also seems to be drawn from the likes of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Attack the Block and even David Cronenberg's Shivers... although I hardly doubt the film's finale will culminate in some sort of swimming pool orgy. It's early days yet but as it stands, The World's End appears to be an exemplary finale to the Cornetto trio.
The World's End is due for release July 19th, 2013.
